Friends in Madness,
Commish and GM have run the numbers. And in every Title Game scenario, we'll have outright champions for each of our Bracket pools.
Scenarios below, plus looking at our 15 survivors' available teams (preview: only 9 have ANY team they can pick).
FINAL FOUR PICKS
BRACKET SCENARIOS
Without further ado, here are our Bracket champ scenarios. Click/tap any username to see their bracket...
THE BIG MM BRACKET
- Current leader: @bdykes5 (71 points)
- Champ if UConn wins title OR SDSU beats UConn OR FAU beats UConn: @jollytime16
- Champ if Miami wins title: @Animboylambo
- Champ if it's SDSU over Miami OR FAU over Miami: @bdykes5 hangs on
BRACKET #2
- Current leader: @stdunnigan (68 points)
- Champ if UConn wins title: @rmm135
- Champ if Miami wins title: @randipoli
- Champ if SDSU beats MIA for the title: @joedad6452
- Champ if FAU wins the title, or it's SDSU over UConn: @stdunnigan hangs on
BRACKET #3
- Current leader: @Mcheavens13 (64 points)
- Champ if UConn wins title: @Leithal
- Champ if Miami wins title OR it's SDSU over Miami OR it's FAU over Miami: @randipoli
- Champ if it's SDSU over UConn: @Kimbos_Krushers_
- Champ if it's FAU over UConn: @Fojasj01
Note that, in some of the above scenarios, our champ would have just 69 or 70 points. Commish always wants to avoid hyperbole, but he's pretty confident that we'd NEVER see a SZN bracket champ again with that low of a score.
SURVIVOR SCENARIOS
Damage done: We entered the Sweet 16 with 204 survivors, and we're now down to just 15. FAU downed 93 of us by beating Tennessee in the Sweet 16, then another 24 by disposing of K State in the Elite 8.
Golden Spreadsheet: As Survivor competitions dwindle, the Golden Spreadsheet becomes more and more important. This is what it tells us:
- Only one person has SDSU left
- Two have UConn left
- Two have FAU left
- Five have Miami left
So what does this mean? When you aggregate it, six survivors are completely out of teams, which means they'll share T10. Of the 9 survivors who DO have a team available, 8 of the 9 have exactly 1 team left (meaning they are a lock to pick that team in the Final Four). And for most of them, it's Miami.
And our lone survivor with TWO teams left? While we should give a standing ovation to @1769 for that achievement, unfortunately those two teams are playing each other - UConn and Miami. So, that guarantees we will NOT see the full survivor gauntlet run this year.
So who wins in a tie? Our championship tiebreakers (ONLY used to determine 1st place) are as such: 1/ Sum of the seeds of all correct picks, 2/ Most correct upset picks, 3/ Sum of the seed difference in each of your correct upset picks, 4/ National Championship pick, 5/ National Championship score prediction. (#4 and 5 are collected before the title game, if needed.)
And thus, our "leaders" (highest sum of seeds picked, with a Final Four team available to pick AND a shot at winning the pool):
- @dpnc23 (seed sum: 45, available team: Miami)
- @jameschodgins (seed sum: 43, available team: UConn)
PICK'EM SCENARIOS
@randipoli is still in the overall lead with 46/60 correct, and our Rounds 2-6 interval is a 7-way tie at 21/28.
As are the rules in every SZN pool with intervals, we don't break ties for interval champs (just split prizes) but ALWAYS break ties for overall 1st place.
Championship tiebreakers, if needed, are: 1/ Sum of seeds for all correct picks, 2/ Total number of upsets correctly picked, and 3/ Cumulative margin of victory over all 63 picks.
Yours in Hooptopia,
The Commish
