Friends in football,
WHO SENT MY LAST EMAIL TO TOMMY DEVITO'S MOM?
Or maybe one of you sent it to Tommy directly.
Commish feels responsible for all the DeVito-caused destruction and I am deeply sorry.
In other news, Thanksgiving means THREE games on Thursday, so get your picks in early to make sure you don't miss out on those three games.
RESULTS SUMMARY
The BIG Survivor (BFIG) results
- Survival record: 139 survive. 162 eliminated
- Worst loss: Commanders (50%) to Giants
- Best Squad: "IMI" and "Blindfolded Dart Throwers" both have a top 3 with 13, 13, and 10 wins. Those 13'ers are still alive
Weekly Pick'em (WeeWoo) results
- Weekly winner: We had a logjam at 13/14, as a bunch got several upsets right but didn't get ALL of them (NYG over WAS, CLE over PIT, LAR over SEA, DEN over MIN, GB over LAC)
- Best Squad: BREAK UP "Mom Said So"!! That's three weeks in a row at the top. They're at 328 wins, with "Panda Warriors" just one win back at 327. A full 30 squads are within 10 wins of the lead
- Overall leader: NEW LEADER. Longtime SZN vet @Windtamer has ascended the throne at 116-47. Overall standings
Survivor #2 results
- Survival record: 104 survivors. 262 eliminated
- Best Squad: "Stonemarkers" has pulled into the lead after a brutal Week 11. They're at 30 wins (11, 11, 8), with "Tommy's Teasers" one win back. As far as Commish can tell, "Stonemarkers" is the only Squad with 2 survivors
Survivor #3 results
- Survival record: 1,311 survivors. 450 eliminated
- Best Squad(s): After three weeks, 44 squads have 3+ survivors
QB One-and-Done results
- Top passer: C.J. Stroud (again) did numbers with 338 yards as our top pick (400 picks)
- Weekly average: 260 yards per pick (35 yards above the average QB performance in what was generally a rough passing week)
- Best Squad: "BLOODGATE" maintained their 500+ yard lead, paced by @ShantheWOMAN's 3,735 yards (2nd best overall)
- Overall leader: @RM5589 vaulted into the lead (322 yards with Jordan Love), as last week's leader @dcwiek took Hurts (150 yards)
- Interval 2 leader: @Redslurpy isn't letting up. 2,023 yards with one week to go in the Interval (333 with Purdy last week) - more than 100 yards above second place
Loser Survivor Brought to You by The OddsBreakers results
- Survival record: 22 survivors. 5 eliminated
- Worst win: Packers (8%) beat Chargers
- Best Squad: This is a tight one. As predicted, "Lake Meaders" has gained ground and is now tied for the lead with "BLOODGATE". Just ONE win from @jonstiff next week will put "Lake Meaders" on top
"All 32" One-and-Done results
- W/L record: 3,048-1,912
- Overall leader: DAMNIT, @Soggiebear and @mufc11! You stayed perfect through Week 11, which was Commish's prediction for when we'd have zero perfects. They're 18/18, but I maintain that anyone with 13+ wins is still in this thing
- Best Squad: "Buter squad" is still on top, adding 5 wins to their total. They're at 48 (out of a possible 54), two ahead of two other squads
COMMISH COMMENTARY
Raise your hand if you saw Tommy DeVito's 246-yard and 3-touchdown performance coming. PUT YOUR HAND DOWN!
Tommy was the butt of many jokes in last week's PICKS email. Commish joined in. And then he hung a big L on the Commanders - a 50% pick in BFIG - while somehow also taking NINE sacks.
How you throw for 3 TDs and 0 INTs while getting sacked 9 times is beyond Commish.
But it's easier to do that when you have Saquon Barkley, who seems determined to put the Giants on his back every few games and drag them across the "we're not as bad as the Panthers and Pats" finish line.
Let's look at our BIG Survivor "leaders" with just 139 standing after 11 weeks.
Commish defines "leaders" as survivors who have picked teams with the fewest collective wins.
That leaderboard looks like this (with picklines, in order they were picked):
- @jared619 (64 wins, or 4.9 wins per picked team): WAS TB CLE DEN IND LAR NYG LAC LV CHI SEA DET SF
- @Dirtball7 (67 wins): WAS IND SEA DEN ATL LV CHI DET CLE ARI PIT SF BUF
- @ronishamin (68 wins): WAS NYG KC DAL CIN BUF DEN LAC NO ARI PIT SF CLE
- @Dominicanloco28 (69 wins): WAS NYG DET JAX MIA LAR SEA LAC NO CHI PIT DAL HOU
- @GScoggs10 (69 wins): WAS NYG NE KC MIA LAR SEA LAC NO DAL PIT DET SF
Looking at those picklines, you'll see teams like the Cardinals (picked by 2 of them), Patriots (1), Giants (4), and Bears (1).
In the case of @jared619, they've picked the Bears, Giants, Raiders, Commanders, Bucs, Rams, Colts, Chargers, and Broncos. It wouldn't be surprising to see ALL of those teams miss the playoffs. Impressive stuff.
That means, on the flip side, @jared619 can STILL pick the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Ravens, Bills, Jags, Dolphins, and Texans.
Still a LONG way to go, but we'd all love to be @jared619 right now.
Can anyone top 15/20 in our Thanksgiving Props pool (the top score in last year's Super Bowl Props)?
We build each Prop (basically a multiple choice question) so that, on average, 50 percent or fewer of you get it right.
That means we expect the average score to always be 50 percent or a little worse, which in this case would be 10/20 correct (or maybe 9 or 8).
We'll be updating Thanksgiving Props scoring in real time to make the day more fun.
And remember, if there's a tie for the title, we use the props, in the order they're listed on the picking page, to break the tie. (Meaning if Person A gets #1 right but the other(s) don't, Person A wins the tiebreaker. If still tied, we move on to Prop #2, and so on.)
Yours in football,
The Commish
