Friends in fore,
Finally.
And of course it was Scheff.
Commish wrote in Friday's PICKS email, "With Rahm going to LIV and Rory seemingly floundering ... it's more like we have a World Top 1 (Scheff) and then everyone else."
It's good to bag $4M with your pick on that Top 1, which 129 of us did in YEYPO.
THE PLAYERS Championship is this week, with a SZN-high $4.5M to the champ (and a $25M purse).
Pick boldly. Pick wisely. Drink Bud Light Lime.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
What happened, in one paragraph
Our top pick, Rory, flashed on Saturday and then flamed out Sunday. Scheff was steady all week, and then caught fire with his flatstick on Sunday and it was over. Wyndham Clark, Lowry, Hideki, Willy Z, Grillo, and Byeong-Hun An all continued their solid recent form with Top 10s. Scheff won by 5, and is probably unbeatable if he putts like that in other tourneys this year.
One-and-Done ("YEYPO")
- Avg earnings: $566,475 (2.83% of purse). This was our best week yet, powered by nearly 10% of us picking the champ, Scheff.
- Winner picks: 129. We had just 25 total winner picks in the 7 weeks before this one.
- Overall leader: @PensacolaPimp at $8,214,850. They've got three top 3s in the biggest events thus far, including Scheff's win.
- Interval 2 leader: 3 tied at $4,801,000. They all had Scheff's win, plus either Van Rooyen or Min Woo Lee (both T2) at the Cognizant. (Interval 2 is weeks 7-12.)
- Best Squad: PGA (Pure Golf Addiction) at $17.9M. Huge moves this week! Saturday Hackers is in 2nd with $16.7M, followed by Mannix 19th Hole at $16M.
Survivor #1
- Damage done: 33 down. Our top 8 picks made the cut. Matty FitzTestTubeGolfer was #9 and took 17 down with his failed laboratory experiment of a year so far.
- Survivors: 267 are on to Week 8.
- Best Squad: 8 Squads left with at least 3 survivors.
Top 10s
- Avg points earned: 1.26. 43% took Scheff, but beyond that we didn't do so well. None of our next seven picks finished top 10, and Willy Z was the only 3-pointer to get more than 14 picks.
- Top 10s actually picked: 8 of 11. We missed Lowry (3rd... how?!), Brendon Todd (T6), and Andrew Putnam (T8).
- Best weekly score: 6 (@Regulator and @garrettcanderson). Both took the dynamic duo of Theegala and Willy Z.
- Overall leader: @tmirrione, @Why_Not, @yjcc (22 points). @Why_Not had a 5-pointer on Theegala and Scheff to grab a share of the lead.
- Best Squad: Nigel Honoring TigersGreatness (50 pts). Unofficial 401k is just behind at 47, and newcomer SLC Golf is at 44.
"All 30" One-and-Done
- Avg earnings: $736,946 (3.7% of purse). A bunch of us have already used Scheff, which is why we didn't do as well here. Scheff was just our 11th most picked golfer. None of our top 10 picks even finished top 20.
- Winner picks: 55. And just 19 had runner-up Clark.
- Overall Leader(s): @yjcc at $9,077,442. Someone needs to get a download on @yjcc's 2024 Golf SZN strategy. It's working quite well so far.
- Best Squad: Nigel Honoring TigersGreatness at $19.1M. Six squads are north of $14M in a pool where leaderboard shifts can happen FAST.
100 Tier One-and-Done
- Avg earnings: $607,558 (3.04% of purse). Our first 3%+ performance in either YEYPO or 100 Tier this year.
- Winner picks: 22. Scheff was picked at a slightly higher rate in 100 Tier vs. YEYPO (11.3% vs. 10%).
- Overall leader: @Orriginals at $6,908,345. 13 people are now north of $5M.
- Interval 1 leader: @Orriginals. We do 3 intervals in 100 Tier: First half (W1-15), Second half (W16-31) and Majors Only. $400, $200, $150 to the top 3 in each interval.
Yours in metal stick swinging,
The Commish
