I LOVE how pro sports has been introducing more interesting jersey options. And I don't know jack about fashion. I've even actively avoided learning too much about the "WHY" of the new designs.

Did I take the other SZN team's opinions into account? Nope. Didn't even say I was writing this post.

Here's my uneducated take on grading the NBA's new batch of City Edition jerseys. Agree? Disagree? Leave a comment. 

A quick reminder of all the jerseys:

A+

WAS - The cherry blossoms and pink are excellent. But when combined with the shorts that have a pink to blue gradient? YES YES YES. Why don't they ever include the shorts in the images???

MEM - Are you kidding me? This looks exactly like the title text of a No Limits Record CD. And I did hear this is supposed to be a Memphis hip-hop nod. Love it.

HOU - Yes, this a homer take. But man do the janky pinstripes remind me of the late 90s and early 2Ks. Loved me the little angry rocket logo from these days.

A

ATL - These things just look classy with the peach-color tones on the stripes.

DAL - Dallas has been REAL bad in the past with their jerseys (remember the "trash bags"?), but this color combo looks great and the font is smooth.

MIL - Clean, cool, still has the cream.

POR - Teal and black? Yeah that's working for me. And I did learn that the pattern in the teal is from the PDX airport, which is hilarious.

B

TOR - So classy, but also not really meaningfully different from past jerseys. Where's my dino at?

CLE - This is nice, love the 3D font. My only small complaints are the weak contrast (the gold on white doesn't pop) and the really light blue C logo is so unnecessary.

LAC - Different color sleeve patterns, the script logo, the colors for the "stained glass" are so good. But the stained glass is just a bit too busy.

MIN - I don't understand the colors, but I DO like them 🤷

C

NOP - Mardi Gras theme is always a W. Just wish the "main" purple color contrasted better with the lighter purple.

BOS - It's a nice rich green and I'm a sucker for nice script font. But it's just... boring.

BKN - It's basically the inverse of last year's jersey. I DO like the side panel, but you can't see it well from head on.

DEN - Pretty classic looking, but the red/gold stripes and the blue stripe side panelling bumps it up a notch in my book.

CHI - Just not bold enough for me, but there's no denying it looks classic.

IND - This is so close for me. The colors, the yellow pattern for separation. But something about how squished together it is on the chest just feels too cramped.

SAS - No joke, almost my favorite. The color choices, the side panels, they're so good! But that font is an atrocity, makes me think of The Rugrats.

D

DET - In my first draft, I didn't even notice that I forgot to grade this one. If it's that easy to miss, it ain't good. 

GSW - If you remove the rose at the bottom, I love this. But when players tuck in the jersey, you're not really gonna see it. It goes from real good to meh so quick.

ORL - Close to good for me. Wish the blues and the pinstripes popped a little bit more. And why does the Orlando font make me think of a Western movie font?

NYK - I love orange and blue, but this just doesn't do anything interesting. Looks like an OKC jersey.

OKC - Borrrrrrinnnnnnnng

SAC - Real boring, and I don't love how the side panel looks so irregular.

PHX - Close, but there's just something missing for me.

MIA - Ah, so a kidnapper design this one? Don't remind me of all your amazing past jerseys by giving me a tiny taste.

PHI - The red font reminds me of a bad Coca Cola logo. Nah.

LAL - It's boring. And where's the gold? Is this a SAC jersey?

CHA - I don't care that people in Charlotte call it "CLT". Those letters, in huge font on front of a jersey are a no from me dog. I do like the hints of Hornet pin stripes at least?
