Are we getting good at OAD? We straight up crushed this week, setting a lot of new SZN highs. Are we getting worse at Survivor? We tumbled this week with our top pick losing.

Scoring this season continues to be bonkers. How many 40+ point games do you think we would have seen in our OAD? Keep in mind: we focus on the slice of games on Friday and Saturday - Call it a third of the week's games. And we carved out a slate of 75 players, taking up to three players per team that we thought merited consideration for scoring some buckets. Despite ignoring 2/3 of games and 75% of all players, we've still managed to pick 11 forty point performances in just six weeks. That is NUTS. There have been 38 40+ point games so far this season. That's even nuts-er.

We haven't even had a no-40 week yet. And that's what we call a jinx...

A quick reminder of how the One And Done timeline and prizes work:

• Overall results accumulate the whole SZN
• We run smaller "Intervals" during the SZN so that we all get a "reset" and have more chances to be in the hunt
  • With a new Interval, everyone resets to 0 points but your player roster is NOT reset
  • This is where the strategy of who to play and when comes in
• We have three Intervals, running 8 weeks, 8 weeks, and 7 weeks
• Interval 1 ends after two more weeks, at which point we'll have our first ever winners for NBA SZN!
• Interval 2 will start with Week 9 on 12/23 like a Christmas gift!
• Interval 3 will start with Week 17 on 2/24 after All Star Weekend

Backup Picks

• 14 of our pickable players didn't play, and 7 of those got at least one pick
• In total, 36 picks were on those 7 DNPs, with the vast majority on T. Young (22 picks)
• We did a good job with our backup picks, with only 2 double DNPs that receive zero points this week
• Reminder - the Injury report is now linked near the top of the picking page, it can't fix last minute DNPs, but it's a very quick and basic line of defense!

• We had another best week this young SZN, setting multiple new records!
• 12 of our picked players scored 30+ points, picked by 260 of us (new high)
• Our top performer was A. Davis with 44 points and NONE OF US PICKED HIM!
  • The man has been on FIRE as of late, but none of us were buying it this week
  • His last 10 games as of tonight's writing - 37, 38, 30, 37, 25, DNP, 25, 27, 44, 55 
• Our best PICKED performer was D. Booker with 41 points for the 53 of us who picked him (new high)
  • He's also been on a hot streak
  • Pair that with the weak HOU defense, and yeah, that'll do it
• Our other big scorers this week: G. Antetokounmpo (40 pts, 39 picks), J. Brown (37, 4), J. Embiid (35, 32), D. Mitchell (34, 38), D. Murray (34, 1), S. Gilgeous (33, 33), B. Beal (33, 5), and J. Grant (33, 3)

• We averaged 29.8 points per pick (new high)
  • The "average" player selected scored 23.0 points this week
  • Our top picks knocked it out of the park with our top 6 picks all scoring 30+

Results

• We entered the week with 60 players and exited with 29, a 48.3% survival rate
• We'd had a few weeks of peace, but destruction reared it's head again
• Amongst the 13 teams we picked, 8 of them lost
• MIL (vs LAL), our top team with 14 picks, lost
  • LAL hasn't been good this season, but they were 6-2 in eight games leading up to this matchup
  • Not saying I believed in LAL in this game, but they aren't the same tankers we've generally been picking on
• BOS (vs MIA), our other big loss, cost us 9 more picks
  • At least you got your money's worth if you watched along
  • BOS had a solid lead in the third, that MIA then whittled down in the fourth
  • Jimmy Butler and Brown then traded wild shots to send it to OT, where MIA clutched it out
• Past this, we were chipped away on several low volume picks: LAC (2 lost), MIN (2), CHI(1), DEN (1), PHX (1), and WAS (1)
