Friends in fast breaks,
When I said last week was bad... Did you think that was a challenge? An invitation?
"I can do even worse when I apply myself, suck it GM!"
MAKE YOUR WEEK 13 PICKS
- Walking Bucket Wilt OAD >>
- The Worm Survivor >>
- Pick deadline: 4pm PT Friday (1/20)
We had our worst week yet of OAD. There were not that many big scoring opportunities, and we didn't do a great job riding the ones that did happen. We were getting spoiled with all the 30s and 40s and 50s, now a 25 point performance just feels bad.
Survivor was a mild reprieve, with more than three quarters of us making it through one more week. We clung to the Beam Team like a safety blanket and they melted down the Rockets like nobody's business.
ONE AND DONE RECAP
Weekly Standings | Player Performance | Overall Standings
Backup Picks
- 18 of our pickable players didn't play, and 12 of those got at least one pick
- In total, 71 picks were on those DNPs, with a good volume spread across G. Antetokounmpo (10 picks), J. Brown (16), and D. DeRozan (14) garnering the most
- We unfortunately had 18 double DNPs that receive zero points this week, apologies to the unlucky pickers
- Reminder - the Injury report is now linked near the top of the picking page, it can't fix last minute DNPs, but it's a very quick and basic line of defense!
Results
- And I thought LAST WEEK was rough
- 7 of our picked players scored 30+ points this week, delivering good results for 86 of us (new low!)
- Last post I talked about Dogpiling Dame... and it paid off!
- D. Lillard posted 36 points, our weakest high mark so far this SZN
- This is the first time our top pick was also the top scorer for the week
- We got close back in Week 6 when 53 of us got 41 points from D. Booker
- But the actual best performance that week was A. Davis who scored 44 points and wasn't picked at all!
- Our other top performers this week: J. Brunson (34 pts, 3 picks), J. Tatum (33, 22), A. Edward (31, 2), L. Ball (31, 2), J. Harden (31, 5), and J. Embiid (30, 18)
- We averaged a sad 22.3 points per pick (new low!)
- The "average" picked players scored 18.9 points, a mild improvement from last week
- Our worst flop this week goes to D. Mitchell, who when 29 pickers depended on him, scored a meager 14 points
- Honorable mention to S. Curry who managed 15 points for 24 pickers
- Other poor weekly performances: D. Garland (15 pts, 3 picks), P. Siakam (15, 19), and L. Doncic (15, 7)
Standings Check
We have prizes for Overall points, as well as most points scored over three different Intervals (First 8 weeks, middle 8 weeks, and final 7 weeks). There's something to play for all SZN!
Interval 2 (Weeks 9-16) Standings
- And a big shake-up - Only @ForceRecon was up here last week
- With a lot of favorites posting weak point totals this week, we got some good shuffling and it's anyone's game again
- We're halfway through the Interval, four more weeks until we crown another champ

- Much less shuffling here, though the gap to reach the leaders shrank somewhat
- Another down week dropped our 30+ points per pick number, now at 40 from 54 last week

Team SZN Performance
- Flop City. Population: Us.
- I (@TheGM) as well as @TheCommish and @Merf got torpedoed by S. Curry's 15 flop. @StatCzar was lucky enough to catch D. Mitchell's 14 dud.
- Overall, @StatCzar has our best placement at 106th
- Reminder: We play along for fun and pride, we can't win anything
THE WORM RECAP
Weekly Standings | Game Outcomes | Golden Spreadsheet
Results
- We entered the week with 60 players and exited with 47, a 78.3% survival rate
- Beam. Beam! BEAM!
- SAC (vs HOU) delivered 21 of us to safety
- It was a relatively close affair for the first half, then SAC remembered that they've got the BEAM on their side and ran away with it
- Shoutout to Sabonis dropping an awesome 19/15/16 statline, you don't see that from many Centers
- GSW (@ SAS) was an easy clap for 6 pickers
- The ONLY interesting thing about this game was setting the NBA record crowd of 68,323 people
- Otherwise, GSW cruised
- CHI (vs OKC) produced the most victims, though only four
- CHI let OKC build a 10 point lead in the first, then clawed it back
- CHI let OKC build a 15 point lead in the third, then clawed it back
- CHI let OKC build a 15 point lead in the fourth
- They uh... forgot there isn't a fifth quarter to claw it back again
Team SZN Performance
- @Merf prevailed again, riding SAC to another victory
- Reminder: we play along for fun and pride, we can't win anything
VC'S KNEES RECAP
