NFL Championships Update

Friends in football,

Last year's route to HasselBracket glory was simple: Believe in the Bengals (at least until the Super Bowl).

This year? Same. At least so far.

 

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

The Bengals steamrolled the Bills on Sunday, which qualifies as the only truly surprising result of the playoffs so far.

Surprising not because the Bengals (picked by 42% of us) won, but because of how they thoroughly dismantled one of the NFL's best teams on the road.

The chalkiness thus far has lead to a logjam at the top. We will have a 13-0 champ this year. The only question in that regard is how many 13-0s will duke it out via tiebreakers for the ultimate crown.

Here's where we stand through 2 rounds:

  • 10-0: 144 people (down from 806 after the Wildcard Round)
  • 9-1: 776
  • 8-2: 1,836
  • 7-3: 2,490
  • 6-4: 1,761
  • ...
  • 1-9: 1 person

Top 300 are in the money, so it's still an open question whether that cutoff will be 1 loss or 2 losses.

What's less of an open question is whether a ton of Bengals fans have placed in HasselBracket both last year and this year. (Surely they have.)

And in case you're wondering, yes, @BigDaddy placed a bet on the Bengals to win the Super Bowl a few months ago.

At this rate, they should hire him to be their mascot in perpetuity. (Do mascots get paid more if they can chug an entire bottle of Bud Light Lime?)
