Friends in fast breaks,
Yes, I'm calling it a "feature" with quotes. I'm hoping to help out a little more in the DNP prevention space. While we've been doing much better ever since the addition of the injury report link, I've still been seeing say a dozen picks a week on some big name players who have been explictly listed as Out for extended time periods.
I've added an "injury warning" for some players in our OAD. Each week, when I open the new week (usually late Sunday), I'll do a quick review of the injury report and point out any players with a meaningful Out status as of that open time. You should still double check the injury reports when you pick - There's a chance a player with a warning might have had a status update or a player without a warning got hurt. It's still on you to make sure your picks is as good to go as you can make them be. Good luck!
MAKE YOUR WEEK 15 PICKS
- Walking Bucket Wilt OAD >>
- The Worm Survivor >>
- Pick deadline: 4pm PT Friday (2/3)
We're staring down Week 15 of 23. That'll be 65.2% of our pickable weeks for the regular season. We've grown up so fast. After Week 16, there's All Star Break (we have no picks that week), then Week 17 kicks off the final leg of the regular season.
But that means we've got some stuff to get ready for:
- OAD - Interval 2 ends with Week 16. Interval 3 starts with Week 17
- Survivor - If we're still going, we move to double picks in Week 17
- Swaggy P-redictions - We have another prediction round in Week 17
- One last potential bonus competition - TBD
- @Merf has made a request, and we're still feeling out some formats
- Glove Playoff Pick'em - Starts with the Playoffs in mid-April
Seriously, if you've been having fun, bring a friend. As you can see, there's still plenty for them to jump in on (minus Survivor) and have fun. Plus, it'd mean a ton to me.
ONE AND DONE RECAP
Weekly Standings | Player Performance | Overall Standings
Backup Picks
- 15 of our pickable players didn't play this week, and 10 of those got at least one pick
- In total, 37 picks were on those DNPs
- D. Booker was our lead - he's been hurt for a few weeks now y'all
- We unfortunately had 7 double DNPs that receive zero points this week, apologies to the unlucky pickers
- Reminder - the Injury report is now linked near the top of the picking page, it can't fix last minute DNPs, but it's a very quick and basic line of defense!
Results
- 14 of our picked players scored 30+ this week, handing 263 of us awesome results (new record!)
- Our top scorer this week was J. Embiid who posted an insane 47 point performance
- 11 people were on this gravy train
- Pair that with his 18 boards and 5 assists AND with his team's victory over his fellow MVP competitior N. Jokic
- You could say he had a good night
- Other big performers: G. Antetokounmpo (41 pts, 16 picks), L. James (41, 18), J. Brown (37, 17), S. Gilgeous (35, 13), and S. Curry (35, 20)
- Giannis is back with a vengeance, posting 29, 33, 41, and 50 in his last 4 games back from injury, jeez
- Shout out to K. Johnson, our only unpicked 30+ scorer of the slate, getting 34 points while the Spurs jockey for Wembanyama
- We averaged 30.4 points per pick, much better than our last few weeks
- The "average" picked players scored 23.5 points
- I'm not sure we've got a worst flop this week
- There were some down performances, but not really affecting more than 10 pickers at a time which makes it not seem very floppy
- Some poor weekly performances: J. Poole (9 pts, 2 picks), C. Sexton (12, 1), J. Clarkson (14, 2), D. Murray (15, 1)
Standings Check
We have prizes for Overall points, as well as most points scored over three different Intervals (First 8 weeks, middle 8 weeks, and final 7 weeks). There's something to play for all SZN!
Interval 2 (Weeks 9-16) Standings
- THE SPICE, IT WON'T STOP!
- We've only got two more weeks to go, and we're looking at TIES at the top of the leaderboard
- Anyone can take the Interval Crown!
- Interval 3 starts Week 17, after the All Star Break. Bring a friend!

- @Bigrv51 and @PurpleNurple19 are atop the mountain right now
- They're rocking a decent gap over the rest of the field
- The moat here is caused by having made minimal mistakes so far
- I'm going to define an "airball" as a week providing < 20 points
- So a double DNP or a poorly performing pick
- @Bigrv51 hasn't had an "airball" yet and has had four 40+ bombs
- Their worst performance was 26 points from Zion in Week 3
- @PurpleNurple19 has one "airball" and five 40+ bombs
- Their worst performance was 19 points from Garland in Week 7
- @mfeeney21 has one "airball" and four 40+ bombs
- Their worst performance was a Zion Double DNP
- A double DNP just hits harder than a normal bad week
- I'm going to define an "airball" as a week providing < 20 points
- Past those two, there's a lot more clumping in the standings
- We're at 41 people averageing 30 points per pick, down from 45 last week

THE WORM RECAP
Weekly Standings | Game Outcomes | Golden Spreadsheet
Results
- We entered the week with 32 players and exited with 27, an 84.4% survival rate
- Only two of our ten picked teams lost, a great week for us
- Don't forget, we move to double picks in Week 17 (after the All Star Game)
- Most of our big picks were pretty textbook, save two
- MIA (vs ORL) nearly sent 10 people packing
- After the first 6 minutes, MIA never lead by more than 6 points
- ORL took the least late in the first and held it until early in the fourth
- At that point MIA took the lead back but still couldn't make it a comfortable one
- PHX (@ SAS) almost tanked 5 picker's dreams
- PHX racked up a mild lead basically the entire game
- Then, in Q4, they let their 11 point lead get away
- SAS ties it with just a little time to spare, and we head to OT
- NOT generating a lot of trust here PHX...
- But then they dominated OT and won by 10
- So... good job?
Team SZN Performance
