Friends in fore,
I mean, the guy leans into the nickname RAHMBO. He has it inscribed, in ALL CAPS, on his gear.
You can't do shit like that and just be good. You have to be GOOD. You have to be world-beating. You have to be Jon Rahm.
WEEK 6 (Honda Classic)
- Go to your competitions page >>
- Purse: $8,400,000
- First place: $1,512,000
- Pick deadline: 2/22 3:40am PT Thurs
Note the EARLY pick deadline. We're now playing on the East Coast, and the days are getting longer. Get your picks in by Wednesday night!
NOW, Max Homa - the local boy crowd favorite who was our top pick and finished second to Rahm - said it best himself in his post-tourney press conference.
Homa was like (and Commish paraphrases), "Listen, I know the guy [Rahm]. I've known him since college. He's always been this way. In some ways it's good because you know he's gonna go out there and play well. You're gonna have to do something special to beat him."
And Homa almost did it, right down to a 9/10 difficulty chip on the 72nd hole that he VERY nearly hopped into the hole.
Alas, it was Rahmbo standing alone at the end.
Five wins in his last nine starts. No finishes outside the top 10. It's Rahmbo's world... ahem, it's RAHMBO's world, and we're just witnesses.
This week, we get to experience what happens on the other side of back-to-back elevated events.
Namely, every big gun not named Sungjae (because Sungjae plays EVERY DAMN WEEK) is taking the week off.
The field is bad. The golf will probably still be good. Feeling like you want to dig deep and take a flyer? This seems like a mighty fine time to get some spice in your life.
WEEK 5 RECAP
YEYPO
Golfer Performance | Weekly Performance | Overall Standings | Golden Spreadsheet
This was our best week ever as judged by our average earnings as a percentage of the purse. Our average pick bagged 4.4% of the purse ($879,822). The previous high was 3.91% at last year's WGC Match Play. This was driven by 18% of our picks on Homa, who finished 2nd and took home $2.18M, and 8% of our picks (4th most) on Rahm.
Big dogs eat. Homa being our clear top pick was actually SLIGHTLY bold, given he was just the 11th best golfer in the field by World Rank. But he's also won the event before, and also won a few weeks ago. The rest of our picks were CHALK. And the leaderboard was CHALK, with 1-2-3 being Rahm (4th biggest pick), Homa (1st), and Cantlay (12th). And really, the whole SZN has been this way so far. The big dogs keep eating. If you've decided to burn some big names, you're probalby doing well. BUT... we still have 25 weeks left. Will you wish you had those big dogs down the road? Time will tell...
Skin?
Nope. Nope. Keith Mitchell was at/near the top of the leaderboard for days, but no one picked him (and he settled for 5th).
Biggest shank:
66 of us reached on Adam Scott and he rewarded us (not) with the lowest money total of our top 12 picks. All 12 made the cut, but Scott's $43K was tiny in a tourney flush with cash.
YEYPO Standings
We have a new leader in @Kester988, who has three wins and an absurd $9.2M after just five weeks. If you're way back, keep in mind that we have a TON of big money events left, and things can turn on a dime. Last year's final standings did not look like the standings after 5 weeks.

Easy game. 91.2% of our picks made the cut - the highest rate ever. 467 of us are onto Week 6.
Team SZN Performance
Commish took Homa and remains in the top 10 (9th place). Stat Czar took Rahm and vaulted up to 141st. LOOK OUT WORLD.
Reminder: Team SZN plays along for fun and bragging rights but can't win any money.
Yours in metal stick swinging,
The Commish
