UCL R16 Week 3 Update

Friends in fútbol,

Atop our Leg 1, Week 2 pick board was Man City. Out of 166 picks, Man City garnered 143, compared to just 9 on its opponent RB Leipzig, and 14 picking a draw.

To have more people picking a draw than picking you to win. Ouch.

Naturally, RB Leipzig rose up and bagged that draw. And that left us with exactly ZERO people at 8-0 in the Zlatan Pick'em after just one leg.

 

R16 WEEK 3 PICKS

 

After averaging just 1.87 correct picks in the first week of Leg 1, we responded by averaging... 1.83 correct picks in the second week.

That leaves us with the following correct pick distribution:

  • 8 correct picks: ZERO people
  • 7 correct picks: 5 people
  • 6 correct picks: 14
  • 5 correct picks: 32
  • 4 correct picks: 39
  • 3 correct picks: 45
  • 2 correct picks: 23
  • 1 correct picks: 8
  • 0 correct picks: 0

Well... at least nobody went 0-for-8?

If there was ever a competition in which somebody comes from WAY back in the pack to win it all, it's this one.

We're batting just 52.9% in getting our picks right across both the Group and Knockout Stage in the Zlatan Pick'em. And when you look at the Knockout Stage alone, it's just 46.3%.

With a second leg that promises to be as closely contested as the first leg, it's definitely still anyone's game.

Including Zlatan... who was apparently ruled out of the Knockout Stage as he recovers from knee surgery. But are you really going to believe that? If Zlatan just showed up one day and was like "I'M PLAYING", is anyone gonna stop him? Would YOU try to stop him?

That's what I thought.

Commish says: I mean, having just spent a week in Switzerland (the German speaking part), can't we take practically any German word, put it in place of "Eintracht" and have this still work?

Commish says: If Liverpool were an American team, this would most definitely be all the chanting creativity we could muster.
