Friends in fast breaks,
Week 1 is our only bastion of safety in Survivor. Week 2 onwards brings the threat of elimination. And we sadly wave goodbye to some competitors this week.
BUT! Remember that Points One-And-Done runs all season. And that our Survivor #2 starts in Week 12 (January). We'll ALL be back at it soon with a fresh chance at survivor glory.

RESULTS SUMMARY
Points One-And-Done
J. Brunson was our scoring leader, dropping 45 points in a close loss to MIL for 7 excellent pickers. No matter how much he dragged them kicking and screaming near victory, at some point his teammates have got to help out. Pair that with MIL shooting over 50% from 3, and that's all she wrote.
Our top pick, D. Mitchell (68 picks), put on another clinic with 38 points. We actually had good coverage of the top 2-6 scorers, getting 29+ picks on each of them.
We had 15 players score 25+ points, leading to 421 picks looking quite good. Our average points/pick was 27.7, an excellent week. That means 55.4 points/picker on average (just double the points/pick).
Our best performance this week was 83 points by @ContrarianDFS (D. Mitchell, J. Brunson). Our Overall (and Interval 1) leader is @Logan2273 with 162 points.
On the DNP front, 6 players didn't play, leading to 63 DNP picks. There were 8 double DNPs, leading to a zero. It's linked in the rules on the pick page every week, but we NEED to keep an eye on the injury reports. De'Aaron Fox has been dealing with an ankle sprain since 10/30, but was still taken for 37 picks. S. Gilgeous had a left knee sprain announced on 11/2, but we still picked him 17 times. Never hurts to do an injury report check on Friday morning to make sure nothing bad happened to your selections.
Survivor #1
Time for tears, our first eliminations. We had 102 incorrect picks this week, leading to 25 eliminations. We posted a 73.1% win rate this week, but still lost 7.3% of the Pool.
SAC, our second biggest team with 47 picks, was our downfall. Despite playing the lowly HOU, Dillon "the Villain" torched them for an efficient 26 points, leading to an 18 point loss for SAC.
We went HEAVY on MIA this week, with 135 picks. That paid off, but it certainly wasn't a "calm" victory. Despite holding a solid lead since the middle of the second, MIA went cold in the 4th quarter. They scored six points in the final six and a half minutes - WAS scored 24. So MIA was never "directly" threatened with their lead, but they definitely screwed around and let WAS back in the game. If there was another two minutes? Might have been a very different outcome.
All 30 One-And-Done
SAC hurt us here too, but there were only our fourth ranked team. MIA, BOS, and MIN were all picked more and won their games. We posted a slightly better 73.6% win rate this week.
Logically, you'd expect our win rate to be worse here than in Survivor each week, assuming no crazy upsets. Because we have to use every team and don't have to worry about elimination, that straight up incentivizes riskier picking. It will be interesting to see how our win rates stack up over time.
Yours in Roundball Rock,
The GM
