Friends in fore,
Standing on the 10th tee Sunday, it was Stephan Jaeger 12-under, Scottie Scheffer 11-under.
We all know how this ends.
... except it didn't end that way.
Both played the final 9 at even par, and Stephan Jaeger - who was hot earlier this year only to cool off recently - became the latest "if it's not Scheff, it's likely some guy WAY down the pick board, if even on the board at all" winner of the 2024 Golf SZN.
The Masters is NEXT WEEK.
That means 3 big things:
- The start of our Majors "Pick 8" pool.
- Our first-ever Masters Props pool.
- The last good chance to refer friends (you get $10; they get $10 off the Pre-Masters Bundle)
So gear up for a lot of picking and a ton of fun next week, for golf's greatest event.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
What happened, in one paragraph
Scheff had a 5-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to send the tourney to a playoff. Jaeger admitted he was already thinking about the playoff hole strategy. Scheff missed it. The final leaderboard featured FIVE guys at 11-under, one stroke behind the winner, and two more who WERE at 11-under only to bogey the 72nd. Jaeger, aided by an unrelenting 72nd hole, held on. Our top pick BY FAR, Sahith Theegala, started slow (even par 70s on Thurs and Fri), and finished T28.
One-and-Done ("YEYPO")
- Avg earnings: $116,886 (1.28% of purse). Only 14 picked Jaeger, and none of our top 8 picks finished top 10.
- Winner picks: 14. Not much, but also not zero!
- Overall leader: @MPSTEELE13 at $9,589,333. They added a measley $17,654 (thanks, Willy Z), but not much happened behind them.
- Interval 2 leader: @Scottyshaps117 at $7,402,250. A Jaeger pick vaulted them over @Bukjuan into the lead. Interval 2's final week is this week.
- Best Squad: Swingline $22.1M. We have FIVE sThey added exactly $0 to their total. But, same story for 2nd place Swingline.
Survivor #1
- Damage done: 13 down. Jason Day (9 picks) was our biggest disappointment.
- Survivors: 59 are on to Week 12.
- Best Squad: Shotgun Beers, Not Starts. This might be over. They STILL have 3 survivors, and now a 3-win lead.
Survivor #2
- Damage done: 102 down. Jason Day (45 picks) and Cocaine Keith (23) were the biggest cut-missers.
- Survivors: 420 are on to Week 12.
- Best Squad: 19 Squads left with at least 3 survivors.
Top 10s
- Avg points earned: 1.83. If you scored 0 (like Commish), you're questioning why you didn't pick Scheff (2 points) along with the 65% who did.
- Top 10s actually picked: 7 of 10. We missed Tosti (T2), Greyserman (T7), and Skinns (T7). STOP UNDERESTIMATING DAVID SKINNS!
- Best weekly score: 6 (@Gamblers44, @Super_Grover, @BarryMcCaulkinner). All had Jaeger plus another 3-pointer.
- Overall leader: @tmirrione (29 points). They bagged 2 points with Scheff and held serve with those just behind the lead.
- Best Squad: Nigel Honoring TigersGreatness (69 pts). Unofficial 401k remains in 2nd.
"All 30" One-and-Done
- Last week was a bye. This pool is only active in "big money" weeks.
100 Tier One-and-Done
- Avg earnings: $113,958 (1.25% of purse). Slightly worse than YEYPO owing to fewer Jaeger picks.
- Winner picks: 1. Skin! In 11 events, we've had 6 without a winner pick and THREE with a skin. @Bigd4347 had Jaeger.
- Overall leader: @CinkHole at $9,118,267. Both @Perdyb25 and @bmrware are also north of $8.67M.
- Interval 1 leader: @CinkHole. We do 3 intervals in 100 Tier: First half (W1-15), Second half (W16-31) and Majors Only. $400, $200, $150 to the top 3 in each interval.
Yours in metal stick swinging,
The Commish
